Every week or so I read another post

Here‘s a reality check: If a search engine just started dropping those codes in their results, they‘d be crucified. Crucified by the technical press, the SEOs, and a bunch of bloggers. Imagine the conspiracy theories! Definately go read the rest of Jeremy‘s post, threadlinked above, it‘s quite funny :) The question of disclosure and seperation of "editorial" from advertising is raised in the context of search results also which has been a bit of a thorny issue of late. Certainly food for thought, as we‘ve debated aff. links and SERPS for years now..

Every week or so I read another post about how various search companies have draconian API policies, with Google going so far as removing features from the AdWords API to render tools based on their API useless. Alexa flipped the search world on it‘s head when they announced access to the Alexa Web Search Platform at a price most anyone can afford. John Battelle has the scoop: Anyone can also use Alexa‘s servers and processing power to mine its index to discover things - perhaps, to outsource the crawl needed to create a vertical search engine, for example. Or maybe to build new kinds of search engines entirely, or …well, whatever creative folks can dream up. And then, anyone can run that new service on Alexa‘s (er…Amazon‘s) platform, should they wish. It‘s all done via web services. It‘s all integrated with Amazon‘s fabled web services platform. And there‘s no licensing fees. Just "consumption fees" which, at my first glance, seem pretty reasonable.

The Elf-maiden Faimir has dwelt long in Rivendell and has at times been the recipient of the attentions of a young Elf-swain named Arrod. When she rejected Arrod‘s proposals, the young swain turned his attention upon another, but in his heart Faimir remained his first love. Faimir has cast her eyes higher than she should, for they follow - at a distance - the concerns of Glorfindel, one of the Wise and an Elf-lord of the wow arena guide White Council. Glorfindel does not know of her attraction, nor would he likely reciprocate, for his own thoughts dwell on greater matters than those of the heart.
